Losing games is tough regardless of whether it’s by one run or four runs.
Staying upbeat in the face of adversity is the challenge, and right now the Pensacola Blue Wahoos are trying to avoid being consumed by the disappointment of defeat.
It hasn’t been easy, especially after a pair of weekend games against the Jacksonville Suns at Pensacola Bayfront Stadium.
The Blue Wahoos managed only one hit in a 5-1 loss Saturday before losing their 17th one-run game of the year Sunday in an 8-7 setback to the Suns.
After winning 15 games in May, they are 1-6 through seven games this month.
“We’ve had a rough stretch with just luck,” outfielder Jesse Winker said. “We’ve played good ball as a team, but things haven’t fallen our way. But it’s a long year. We have a good team. We’ll get things figured out.”
