If Trevor Wever is asked about his summer vacation when he returns to school next month, the Navarre junior will have quite a story to tell.
Wever spent part of his break playing in a wooden-bat baseball tournament in Alaska with Team Avenue Aces, an elite travel team based in California.
“It’s a lot different from Florida, but it is awesome being here,” Wever said. “It’s light out 24 hours a day right now. We had one game where we started after 7 (p.m.) and finished at 10, and it was still light out. That was strange.”
Wever is in his second season with the Aces and landed on it thanks in part to a recommendation from Scott Hemond, a former Major League catcher who trains players at his baseball school in Destin.
