Thompson makes most of all-star volleyball experience

Hayley Thompson wasn’t sure what it would be like to play volleyball with players she has competed against during her high school career.

She found out Thursday night at the Subway All-Star Game that it isn’t so bad.

The best part was having Gulf Breeze players Maddie Grace McCurdy and Jordan Taylor as teammates on the East Squad.

“It was really fun meeting the different girls and the Gulf Breeze girls were really nice,” Thompson said. “I had a lot of fun being on this team.”

Thompson and her East squad teammates also enjoyed the thrill of victory, defeating the West in four games at the University of West Florida Field House in Pensacola.

The East won 25-10, 25-17, 25-14 and 25-24, marking the third time in five years the East has prevailed in the game, which features seniors from Escambia, Santa Rosa and Okaloosa counties.
