The Pullum YMCA Wahoos swim team finished its summer season Saturday at home in a dual meet with the Seastars swim team out of Pensacola.
“The kids … finished well,” said head coach Mary Moorer.
This meet included all four swimming disciplines – butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle – and relays.
In each heat of each age division, swimmers had barely exited the pool before receiving colored ribbons denoting their place in the race – blue, red, white, light blue and purple for first through fifth.
Once the meet concluded, some of the children had a chance to reflect on their improvements.
“I improved a lot this year, and I got new PRs (personal records),” Elliot Heber said.
The 8-year-old human motorboat was beaming. Swimming for five years, she happily explained that her best, fastest and favorite stoke is freestyle. However, she also took home ribbons in the backstroke and breaststroke.
