The Lighthouse Private Christian Academy Stingrays haven’t missed a beat from last season.
In fact, the Stingrays may be even better than the team that, last season, won 34 games, a Panhandle Conference title and a National Association of Christian Athletes Group 5 championship.
“I think we are more focused this year,” Lighthouse head coach Morris Jones said.
It’s a scary thought for a team that seems to have no weak link. The Stingrays are 15-1 through 16 games. They rolled past Navarre 101-74 last Monday night in the first ever meeting between the two schools.
The players arrived at the gym by limo and played like stars as they used an up-tempo style of play to stay a few steps ahead of the Raiders.
“We can play with anyone when we are at our best,” Jones said. “We have good size in the middle and one of the best guards in the state.”
The size comes from the Cheikna Sissocko, a 6-foot-10 post player originally from Africa who towers over most of the opposition.
