It’s official. Ethan Fulk is the first adaptive track state champion out of Northwest Florida.
Fulk came through with a time of 5:09.95 in the 800 wheelchair race at the 3A state meet Friday afternoon at the IMG Academy in Bradenton.
The inspiring Navarre freshman has an opportunity to win two more titles Saturday when he competes in the 200 and the shot put.
Navarre’s 400 relay team also competed at state Friday and just missed out on qualifying for the finals.
The team of Lee Jones, Royce Thomas, Dante Wright, Xavier Allen finished sixth in their heat, recording a time of 42.50. The squad ran a 41.89 last week en route to the regional crown and went into the state meet ranked fourth in the field.
Abigail Pantlitz also competed at state and finished sixth in her heat in the prelims, clocking in with a time of 12.89.
Khiara Newton is scheduled to compete in the pole vault today. She finished sixth at state last year as a freshman.
