With playoffs looming, the girls’ weightlifting and the boys’ and girl’s soccer team have been working hard, while fine tuning the teams.
Upon return from the winter break, the girls’ weightlifting team immediately will be thrust into the first step of defending their state title. Weightlifting is one sport in which playoffs do not follow the usual routine of determining district and region champions. Weightlifting is divided into 10 weight divisions. The girls’ soccer team has only two losses this season. Both losses occurred on the road to Jacksonville Bolles and Ponte Verda in November. Within the district, Niceville, Pace, and Navarre will be vying for a top seed in the playoffs starting Jan. 13. Read more in the Jan. 9 issue – or subscribe online by clicking HERE.
The Raider boys’ soccer team is one of two undefeated teams in district play. Early in the season, the Raiders tied Niceville 2 – 2 and Pace 3 – 3. Since Pace lost to Niceville, the Raiders and Niceville will be the two top seeds in the district championship scheduled to begin Jan. 20.
