Jessika Seward has one heck of a leg. The Navarre senior scored twice from the goalie position and a third goal while sitting on the bench during the Subway All-Star Soccer Game Thursday night at the Ashton Brosnaham Complex in Pensacola.
“It’s crazy. My leg is strong,” Seward said during a post-game interview.
It would indeed be crazy if Seward had really pulled off those scoring opportunities. In all seriousness, it was the public address announcer who had things confused.
Jessika’s twin sister, Jennifer, was the one who scored the three goals, a performance that earned her MVP honors for the East team in its 7-1 win over the West.
Of course, Jessika did score a goal as well in helping the East dominate a game between seniors from Escambia, Santa Rosa and Okaloosa County schools.
Jennifer is one of the top scoring threats in the area and didn’t sweat the mix-up too much.
“It didn’t really matter who got credit for the goals. At the end of the day, it’s just an all-star game,” Jennifer said. “We were all here to have fun and represent our schools.”
The Seward sisters were two of the five Raiders on the team. Anakah Madril, Jocelyn Fernandez and Rosie Martino also represented Navarre in the game.
