Khiara Newton came through with the best performance of her career in the pole vault, clearing 11-feet-3 3/4 inches to place . Her previous best was 10-6. This will be Newton’s third consecutive trip to state.

The boys 400 relay team also advanced after a fourth-place finish in the regional. Dante Wright, Xavier Allen, Saturn Wagner and Jaylen Shropshire teamed up to run a time of 42.70. Wright and Allen were on the squad that made it to state last year.

The state meet begins Friday at the University of North Florida’s Hodges Stadium.
