Friday marked the end of the road for the seniors on Navarre’s football team.
The Raiders lost 49-27 to Crestview in the Region 1-6A regional championship game at Bennett C. Russell Stadium.
Nearly 30 seniors played their final game that night. Navarre head coach Jay Walls talked a little about what that group has meant to a football program that is one of the most successful in the area year in and year out.
“It’s a great senior class. A lot of them have been two or three-year starters,” Walls said. “We had a lot of guys contribute from that class and we’re certainly going to miss them.”
Junior wide receiver Tyler England called the seniors role models.
“Playing with someone like Dante (Wright)–the kid is incredible. As he gets older, he’s going to keep getting better and better,” England said. “The same goes for guys like Quinn (Caballero) and Chris (Williams) and Josh (Carter), and that great defensive line. They are big role models and have set a high standard.”
