Senior night showdown has a lot riding on it

One game is all that remains in the regular season for Navarre.

One game with so much riding on it.

The Raiders face Crestview Friday night on senior night in a District 1-7A game. Kickoff is 7:30 p.m. at Bennett C. Russell Stadium.

They’ll enter the game eighth in the latest regional playoff poll. A win over the Bulldogs all but assures Navarre of a postseason berth for the eighth consecutive year. A loss puts that streak in jeopardy.

“It’s a big district game against Crestview, a big rival,” Navarre head coach Jay Walls said. “It’s senior night and our last regular-season game. There’s a lot on the line. A lot to play for.”

Navarre is coming off a 31-28 victory over Leon Monday and knows it needs another gutsy effort Friday.

“To be in a must-win type of moment, you have to give it all you got,” senior defensive back Gabe Davis said. “For the seniors, we have to ball out. Every play has to be made. We can’t take a play off.”
