Losing wasn’t an option. Not on senior night. Not in the final game of a regular season that has seen this Navarre girls basketball team make significant strides.
“I did not want to lose,” senior Lauren Kane said. “It was looking rough, but we got it.”
The Raiders trailed by 10 at one point in the third quarter and entered the fourth down five.
A furious fourth-quarter effort, fueled by scrappy defense, propelled the Raiders to a 43-38 win Thursday night.
Navarre played with the same fight that it has shown all season. But often, the Raiders battle back and fall a little short of the win.
This time was different.
“We fought back and that’s something we’ve seen throughout our season,” Navarre head coach Abby Fogg said. “It was nice to see us fight back and win instead of lose a close game.”
Natasha Elliott gave the Raiders the lead for good at 39-38 with 2:02 left.
