Joe Sczesny is ready to get back to playing basketball with his Navarre teammates this summer. The action picks up in June and the rising senior knows it’s an opportunity to get better.
“Summer is definitely a big help,” Sczesny said. “We’re working together and putting things on film that we can go back and watch when the season rolls around.”
Sczesny saw plenty of playing time last season for a Raiders team that dealt with more than its fair share of close losses, losing seven by less than 10 points during a 6-21 campaign.
But that team was young. This one will have more experience and benefit from the adversity it battled through last year under first-year head coach Terry Posey.
“Last year was a learning year for us,” Sczesny said. “The fact that we all got experience last year is going to help us out this year.”
Sczesny will be counted on to help lead the way and is banking on his experience.
“I gained a lot of experience last year,” Sczesny said. “I know what to expect. I’m ready for the competition.”
He has spent a lot of time honing his skills with NAV City, a local travel team. He also spends a lot of time on his own in the gym.
