All he really needed was an opportunity, and after a redshirt year in his first season at South Alabama, the former Navarre standout finally got one.
Here he was, against Kansas State in the first game of his collegiate career, ready to showcase his skills at the plate. This was his chance to shine.
He reached on a fielder’s choice the first try and struck out looking in his second attempt at a hit.
Then came the top of the sixth. Sandle swung his bat one more time. This time he connected on a double to center.
