Mother Nature was the winner in Thursday night’s Subway High School All-Star Baseball and Softball games at the University of West Florida in Pensacola.
Lightning delayed the games initially, and with a line of storms headed into the area, the games were called. No word had been given that night as to whether or not the games will be made up.
Navarre was represented in the softball game by Shana Pearl while Billy Unterbrink represented the Raiders in the baseball game.
The games featured players from schools in the counties of Escambia, Santa Rosa and Okaloosa.
Billy Unterbrink never got a chance to bat as the game was called after one inning, but was glad he had the chance to be on the team.
“It was great to come out and represent my school,” Unterbrink said. “It sucks I didn’t get to play, but it was a great experience to be around the other all stars.”
Pearl did get to bat in the first inning but grounded out.
“Since I was the only player selected from Navarre, it meant a lot to me to be here,” Pearl said. “This was a chance to shine and give it all I got.”
