Raiders struggle against Dolphins

Navarre’s baseball team closed out the regular season with a 12-3 loss to Gulf Breeze Thursday night.

The Raiders led 2-1 after two innings. Branson Ackman knocked in the tying run with a base hit to left. Garon Finley gave Navarre its only lead when he scored on a wild pitch.

Defensive struggles helped the Dolphins take control. Navarre fell to 13-12 on the season and plays Milton Tuesday afternoon in a 2-7A district tournament semifinal at Niceville. Game time is 4 p.m. Navarre needs to win to assure itself a spot in the regional tourney.

“We’ll try to clean some things up and get ready for the tournament,” Navarre head coach Jon Boddy said. “We’ll have a light practice (today), have a hard practice Monday and then go out and play Tuesday.”
