Navarre’s softball team split a pair of games last week against two schools from Kentucky. The Raiders knocked off Oldham County 11-10 last Thursday before falling 8-4 to Owensboro on Friday.

The Raiders won a slugfest against Oldham County April 6 but the win did not come easy. After building leads in the bottom of several innings, the Raiders allowed the Colonels to claw their way back into the game the next time they came to bat.

Trailing by a run in the bottom of the first inning, Hanna Stapleton stepped to the plate and crushed a pitch over the left-center wall to give Navarre a 3-1 lead.

Oldham came back in the second inning with another run. However, the Riders scored twice in the bottom of the second. After Emma Thomas singled and Gabby Ayala walked, Holly Koch doubled home Thomas. Kallie Anderson singled home Ayala to make the sore 5-2.
