Raiders set to battle Wildcats

Navarre plays its home opener tonight against Washington. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. at Bennett C. Russell Stadium.

The ninth-ranked Raiders are coming off a 35-7 season-opening win over Pensacola Catholic last week where they used a run of 28 unanswered points to put the game out of reach. Navarre also stepped up defensively, shutting the Crusaders out in the second half and allowing only 155 yards.

Navarre rolled up 396 yards of offense and four different players scored touchdowns. Dante Wright caught two touchdown passes and Marlon Courtney threw for two scores.

The Raider defense did not allow a third-down conversion in the win.

Navarre is looking for its fifth consecutive regular-season win going back to last season and owns a 14-4 record at home since 2015.

Worth Noting

Head coach Jay Walls is 60-15 and is in his seventh season at the school. His team is 28-2 in the regular season over the last three seasons.

Navarre has won 30 of its last 32 games in the regular season.

Dante Wright needs just 11 yards to move into second all-time in receiving yards for a career. He has 1,733 in his career.

The Raiders have scored 30 or more against the Wildcats in two of their last three meetings.

Nathan Crews led Navarre in tackles last week with seven.
