Raiders rise in latest AP football poll

Navarre keeps climbing up the poll. The Raiders jump one spot to seventh in this week’s Associated Press 6A football poll.

Navarre pushed its record to 2-0 this past Friday, knocking off Washington 27-12 in Pensacola. It was the 13th consecutive road win for the Raiders, who have also won 23 of their last 24 games in the regular season.

Navarre heads back out on the road this week to take on Crestview, which received three votes in this week’s poll. The Bulldogs are 2-0 and have outscored their first two opponents 69-2. Game time is 7 p.m. at Jack Foster Stadium.

The Raiders have cranked out more than 700 yards, including 554 on the ground, and running back Omari Green has paved the way for the rushing attack, churning out 235 yards and five touchdowns.

Navarre’s defense showed steady improvement last week after giving up 35 points in the opener. The Raiders recorded seven sacks and Dante Wright and Nolan Garrett both picked off passes. James Segrest forced a fumble. Navarre has forced two or more turnovers in each of its first two games.
