Navarre’s football team is still in the top eight in the latest Florida High School Association playoff power ratings.
The Raiders check in at No. 6 this week with 36.17 points. They dropped two spots after a 35-27 loss to Escambia Friday night at Bennett C. Russell Stadium. The Gators jump from eighth to fourth after the win and have 36.67 points.
St. Augustine remains the No. 1 team in the region with 45.50 points. And talk about close calls. Gulf Breeze and Fort Walton Beach are tied for the eighth and final spot at the moment. Both teams have 34.83 points. The Dolphins beat the Vikings 31-23 last Friday night.
Crestview (40.40) and Niceville (39.33) are second and third, respectively, in the poll. Pine Forest is fifth (36.40) and Tate is seventh (35.20).
The four district champions out of the region will be assured of a playoff berth. The remaining for playoff spots will be selected based on points at the end of the year.
