On the heels of its best softball season in nearly five years, Navarre aims to take another step forward this year.
The Raiders won 17 games a season ago, the most since picking up 18 wins in 2014, and have every reason to believe they can contend for a district championship.
Confidence isn’t in short supply for a Raider team featuring eight seniors.
“Last year gave us a lot of confidence knowing we can be a great team. It’s exciting,” senior Kallie Anderson said.
Navarre lost four seniors to graduation but that hasn’t fazed this team.
“We feel like we can keep things going and be even better,” senior Paige Yaccarino said.
Kelly Hayes saw her team win just 19 games in her first two seasons as the head coach. This is now her fourth year leading a program she played for. She points out the pieces are in place for this team to be one of the best in the area.
“We have good leadership and a lot of experience from last year back. We have built a foundation and have grown in it and keep getting better,” Hayes said.
