The Raiders opened the season with a 5-0 win over Fort Walton Beach on Halloween.
After playing evenly for the beginning of the game, the Raiders put the first score on the board in the 10th minute. Brenda Bishop dislodged the ball from a Viking defender at midfield and passed to Emily Madril in the left corner. Madril moved towards the middle. Her shot from 20 yards out beat the Viking keeper and the Raiders had a 1 – 0 lead.
Four minutes later, the Raider offense struck for another goal. Madril intercepted a pass on the right side and passed to Bishop, streaking down the left side. Bishop took the pass on the run and fired a shot from 25 yards out into the top right corner of the Viking goal, making the score 2 – 0.
The Vikings put a scare into the Raiders at the 35th minute when a long shot bounced high over Emily Depersio’s head. However, Depersio hustled back and dove at the ball, knocking it away at the last second.
Early in the second half, the Vikings came close to scoring again, only to be robbed by Raider keeper Jessika Seward’s one arm save.
In the 45th minute Madril moved into Viking territory. Madril passed to Jennifer Seward at the 30 yard mark. Seward did the rest, moving close to the goal, scoring the third goal from five yards out.
Tori Martino scored the fourth goal from 18 yards out after receiving a pass from Madril in the 63rd minute.
Hannah Hughson closed out the scoring on a corner kick by Lizzie Madril 78th minute.
