Raiders move up in latest Associated Press football poll

Navarre’s football team moved up one spot in the latest 6A Associated Press football poll. The Raiders are No. 8 in the poll this week after defeating Pensacola Catholic 56-35 in their season opener last Friday night.

Miami Northwestern is the new No. 1 team in the state, receiving 11 first-place votes. Northwestern was ranked second last week. Reigning state champion Miami Carol City falls to second.

As for Navarre, it has won 22 of its last 23 games in the regular season and is unbeaten in its last 12 road games. Navarre won behind a potent rushing attack that cranked out more than 400 yards and produced eight touchdowns.

The defense rose to the occasion when it mattered, too, with Cade Taylor and Bryson Brewer both picking off passes.

The Raiders head out on the road to battle Washington this Friday night in a 7 p.m. game in Pensacola.

Below is a look at latest polls in each class.
