The Navarre Raiders rolled through another weightlifting meet last Wednesday afternoon.
Navarre topped Choctaw 56-28 in a dual meet and remain unbeaten for the season.
“I’m really happy with the dedication of the kids. They are doing everything we ask of them,” said Garrett Bagley, who coaches the team with Jay Walls and is a strength and conditioning guru. “We’re off to a good start.”
Progress was evident again this week as several Raiders saw their combined lifts increase. Reigning 219-pound state champion Josh Carter came through with a 710-pound total against the Indians to win his weight class. That is 50 more pounds than his combined lift at state last year. He benched 350 pounds and lifted 360 in the clean-and-jerk.
Jordan Jefferson powered his way to another strong performance, turning in a combined lift of 770 to win the heavyweight division. Jefferson bench pressed 430 and recorded a clean-and-jerk of 340.
Chris Williams won the 199-pound weight class with a combined lift of 620.
Jacobi Smith won at 238 pounds with a combined lift of 660 pounds.
