Raiders lose district final in penalty kick shootout

Navarre’s quest for a district tournament championship ended Thursday night against Niceville.

The District 1-4A showdown at Pace was decided in a penalty kick shootout. Niceville won it 3-0 to claim its third consecutive district crown.

The two teams played to a 1-1 tie in regulation and neither team scored in the two overtime periods.

Brenda Bishop scored the lone goal for the Raiders. Anakah Madril was credited with the assist on the play in the seventh minute of the game.

Jessika Seward made 12 saves in goal. Navarre falls to 14-4-4 on the season.

Despite the loss, the Raiders will advance to the regional tournament. That begins Feb. 6 in Tallahassee.
