Navarre is back on the road tonight. The Raiders take on Choctaw in a 7 p.m. battle at Joe Etheredge Stadium.
The Raiders (3-0) come in ranked fifth in the state in 6A and are riding the high of a 41-35 overtime win over Crestview last week. Navarre rallied from 28 points down to earn the thrilling victory.
Navarre has been a tough team to beat on the road. The Raiders have won their last 15 in the regular season away from home and have won 17 of their last 18 overall away from home.
Choctaw (1-2) is coming of a 34-9 loss to Pensacola Catholic. The Indians’ lone win was against Milton. They defeated the Panthers 38-35 in week two.
Navarre has been well-balanced on the offensive side of the ball, racking up 569 yards through the air and 561 on the ground. The Raiders have limited their opponents to 688 yards and to just a 6-for-32 showing on third down conversion attempts.
In last year’s game in Navarre, the Raiders topped the Indians 41-24. The Raiders are gunning for their fourth consecutive win over the Indians.
Jay Walls is 62-15 and in his seventh season at Navarre. His team has won 32 of its last 34 games in the regular season.
Navarre has churned out at least 100 yards passing and 100 yards rushing in each of the first three weeks. The Raiders have allowed less than 100 yards passing in game twice this season.
Marlon Courtney has thrown for 483 yards and three touchdowns. The Raiders have five players who have rushed for at least one touchdown.
Dante Wright enters tonight’s game needing only two yards to pass Jordan Leggett for first all-time on the career receiving yards list. Wright has 1,826 in his career. Leggett plays for the New York Jets.
Josh Carter leads the team in tackles with 15 and has also picked off one pass.
