Navarre is headed to a new district in football and moving up to the 7A classification.
Starting in 2019, the Raiders will be in a district with Niceville, Tate, Crestview as well as three Tallahassee schools in Lincoln, Leon and Chiles. The seven teams will make up District 1-7A.
Navarre has been playing in a district with Gulf Breeze, Pace and Milton. Those three schools are all staying at 6A classification. The new classifications will be in place for the 2019 and 2020 seasons.
The Raiders went 11-2 a year ago and reached the postseason for the seventh consecutive year.
The reclassification also means the end of a district championship hanging in the balance in the Beach Bowl between Navarre and Gulf Breeze.
The two Santa Rosa County rivals have played for the district title each of the last three seasons.
