Navarre’s boys soccer team put up a fight against rival Gulf Breeze Tuesday night at Dolphin Stadium.
But a late goal wasn’t enough to kick-start a comeback for the Raiders, who fell 4-1 to the Dolphins in a non-district game on a cool evening in Gulf Breeze.
Kevin Taich punched in a goal with a forceful kick with 8:12 to play to trim Gulf Breeze’s lead to 2-1 but the Raiders were unable to turn that goal into enough momentum to fuel a rally.
The Dolphins scored twice in a two-minute span to seal the deal.
“The scoreboard doesn’t show the whole game,” said Navarre head coach Abdalla Elbaioumy. “They got a couple of goals late. We battled hard the entire game.”
Taich is the kicker on the football team and was only in his second game with the soccer team. His performance Tuesday is one Elbaioumy hopes is a sign of things to come.
Goalie Kyle Hickman is the punter on the football team and settled in nicely upon his return to soccer, making several diving saves.
