Navarre’s volleyball team has won only three games this season, but the effort the Raiders put forth has never dropped off.
That much was evident Oct. 7 in a road match against county rival Gulf Breeze. The Raiders took the Dolphins to five games before falling in a hard-fought match where momentum swayed back and forth.
Losing is never easy but the Raiders came away feeling positive about their effort.
“It’s tough to watch them play their hearts out and not get the win, but never giving up, giving 110 percent, is awesome to see,” Navarre head coach Michelle Lee said. The bus ride home was good. The girls were happy knowing we are growing and seeing our potential.”
Navarre won the opener 25-23 before Gulf Breeze took the next two by the scores of 25-19 and 25-16. The Raiders fought back in the fourth game, nailing down a 25-21 win to force a decisive fifth game. The Raiders opened the final game on a 3-0 run but were never able to pull away as Gulf Breeze won 15-13.
It was the second time this season Navarre has played Gulf Breeze close, losing in four games in the first meeting Sept. 28.
