Navarre’s volleyball team played three matches last week. The Raiders started out by taking on Pace at home Aug. 22 and earned their first win a night later against Pensacola. They closed the week against rival Gulf Breeze.
Against the Patriots, Pace held an early lead until Mary Beloat’s hard shot from the back line tied the score at 3-3.
After a Raiders service error, Pace came back, scoring four points which gave the Patriots a 7-4 lead. Alex Rebber broke up the Pace rally, but it was short-lived, as Navarre made several unforced errors, including two double hits. Suddenly, the Patriots led by a 16-10 score.
The Patriots scored two more times before Lily Trujillo stuffed a potential kill and the Patriots expanded the lead to 18-10.
The Raiders narrowed the lead to 24-16 thanks to two kills by Haley McGee.
The teams traded service errors and the game ended by a 25 – 17 score.
In the second game, Pace built up a 7-2 early lead before Trujillo scored with a service ace. Abbey Nebarez added a block and a kill to narrow the lead to 8-7.
