Success doesn’t happen overnight, and the Navarre volleyball team understands that as it pushes through the early part of the season.
The Raiders came up empty in their first two matches of the year, falling in four games to Pace in the opener Aug. 25 before losing in three games to Washington in their home opener a night later.
“Our preseason was a little rough, but we changed some things before we started the season,” first-year head coach Michelle Lee said. “We weren’t able to win either of our (first two) matches but we played better.”
The effort has certainly been evident for the Raiders, who battled the Wildcats tough at home, coming up with strong blocks at the net and hitting the ball hard.
Now, the key is turning that effort into wins.
“We have played hard, but we still have some things to work on,” Lee said. “One of the things is we have to work on finishing strong and not being as timid. If we work on that and play to win instead of not to lose, it will fix a lot.”
Lee, of course, is still learning as well since she is coaching high school volleyball for the first time.
