Navarre missed out on a chance to cap off District 1-4A play with a win. The Raiders fell 1-0 to Crestview Saturday at Bennett C. Russell Stadium.
On the heels of a 2-2 tie with regular-season district runner-up Washington, Navarre was a little worn out. The Raiders fell to 8-9-2 overall and finish third in the district standings with a 7-5-2 mark.
“It’s a tough game to lose,” Navarre boys soccer coach Abdalla Elbaioumy said. “We had played a tough game (Friday) and the guys were tired, so we didn’t want to push them too hard. But we still should have won.”
Crestview scored the only goal of the game with under two minutes to play in the half.
Navarre and Crestview will meet in the opening round of the district tournament next Monday night in Navarre. The Raiders end the regular season Friday at home against Pensacola Catholic.
“We’ve come to the end of the (district) season,” Elbaioumy said. “The tournament is what matters now.”
