Raider weightlifting team dominates Indians

The Lady Raider weight lifters were hungry to compete again after a two week Thanksgiving break. They took their frustration out on Choctaw last Thursday at home by a 73-13 score.

The Raiders scored won nine of the 10 weight classes to secure the victory against an Indians team that did not have its full roster for the meet. There are two meets left before the district championship. At the district meet, the top three lifters in each weight class will advance to the regional meet.

In the regional meet, the top three lifters in each weight class will qualify for a lottery.

In the next two weeks, the Raiders have two goals they are striving for, which are to increase their combined weights lifted and reduce their body weight. The reduction in weight is crucial because if a tie occurs, the winner is determined by the lifter that weighs the least.

At the Choctaw meet, Amiyah Carnall remained undefeated for the year in the 101-pound weight class. Carnall had a 125-pound bench press and clean-and-jerk for a combined lift of 250 pounds. Lily Williams placed second with a combined lift of 200 pounds.
