Friday afternoon was fun for Navarre’s volleyball team.
The Raiders spent six hours in a lock-in type setting, going over goals and standards they have set for themselves for the upcoming season.
First-year head coach Ryan Davenport said the day served as an opportunity to lay the groundwork for success.
“If we don’t have a good foundation, and really culture is the foundation of who these girls want to be and who we want to be as a program, we can’t be successful,” Davenport said. “If we don’t have a solid foundation, everything we do above that is only going to be on the surface. We won’t have any depth.”
Friday’s fun day capped a busy first week for the Raiders, who are hopeful they can turn things around in a big way after a 5-11 season a year ago that ended in the opening round of the district tournament.
