Navarre’s swim team opened its season last Tuesday afternoon with a meet against Gulf Breeze at the YMCA in Navarre.
Olivia Sczesny won two events while the Raiders’ boys and girls 200-yard freestyle relay teams also claimed first place.
Sczesny is a senior this year and won the 50 free in a time of 26.38 before finishing the 100 free in under a minute (59.50). Lauren Robbins was the only other Raider to win an event. The senior placed first in the 200 free, clocking in with a time of 2:19.15.
Robbins also placed second in the 500 free (6:24.16).
Merete Conley finished second in the 200 free, recording a time of 2:26.06, and was third in the 500 free, coming through with a time a time of 6:24.51.
Courtney Rodriguez took third in the 200 IM (2:50.50) and fifth in the 100 butterfly (1:20.51) while Navi Nelson finished third in the 50 free (29.87). Nelson also placed in the top five in the 200 free (2:39.65).
Cameron Terrian, Dylan Porter and Erik Woodruff had the best finishes for the boys in the individual events. Terrian took second in the 50 free (24.88) and Porter was the runner-up in the 100 free (55.39) and he also placed second in the 100 backstroke (1:06.50). Woodruff placed second in the 100 butterfly (1:04.06).
