Raider soccer team making progress despite tough losses

Rain poured down last Monday night as Navarre’s boys soccer team battled Niceville in a crucial district game at the NYSA Complex.

The Raiders had already lost to the Eagles once this season and were hoping for a little revenge and to put an end to a three-game winless streak.

They trailed 1-0 at halftime despite generating a few scoring opportunities. They were opportunities that should have resulted in goals.

“We had four or five chances, and they weren’t just chances. They should have been goals,” Navarre head coach Abdalla Elbaioumy said. “We have to be able to cash in on those opportunities.”

The second half didn’t go much better, with Navarre giving up two more goals in what would end up being a 3-0 loss to the Eagles.

This season has been up and down for Navarre, and consistency is something the Raiders (3-4-1, 3-2-1 district) are still searching for as they continue on through December.

Despite the roller coaster ride, Elbaioumy is seeing improvement.
