Navarre High School senior Jared Gonzalez signed a letter of intent March 7 to attend and play athletics for Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Ala.
Gonzalez will bring his baseball talents to Huntingdon. The Raiders’ hurler was the starting pitcher in the team’s first win of the season against Gulf Breeze Feb. 18. The Hawks are 12 – 5 so far this year after defeating conference foe Covenant College March 8.
NHS baseball coach David Meredith said Gonzalez was important to the team on and off the field. “He has been really consistent for us on the mound this season and has awesome potential,” Meredith said. “When younger players are looking for a role model on the team, I often suggest Jared as someone they should try to emulate.”
Gonzalez was joined by his family — Bob Fishbaugh, Susan Fishbaugh, Zack Gonzalez, Buddy Gonzalez and Lori Gonzalez — at the signing.
