Khorri Newton had one goal in mind entering Saturday’s District 2-3A track meet at Emerald Coast Middle School in Santa Rosa Beach.
“I had the mindset that I wanted to come in here and leave with first place,” Newton said. “I did that. It feels good.”
Newton did indeed dominate the high jump, winning a district championship for the second consecutive year. The Navarre junior won the event with a leap of 5-foot-4.
“It’s the second year in a row I’ve done it,” Newton said. “I’m glad I was able to win and see all of the hard work I put in pay off.”
