Navarre’s volleyball team won only six games a year ago. It’s one more win than the Raiders had in Michelle Lee’s first season as the head coach.
But optimism is high as the Raiders continue their summer workouts in preparation for the season ahead. Seven players are gone, but with a handful of returning players and a cast of young players showing promise as well, Navarre is hoping to take a big step forward in 2017.
“The workouts have been awesome. We have a lot of girls out here and they are working hard,” Lee said. “The summer training has been intense. We’ve been in the gym four hours a day, three days a week, and are getting a lot accomplished.”
Lee has been the head coach of the Raiders since July 2015, and she figured building a strong program would take time. As she looks at the situation now, there is no question progress has been made.
