Navarre’s girls soccer team hosted its in-county rival, Gulf Breeze, last Tuesday night.
The teams were evenly matched and the showdown ended in a 0-0 tie. No one was surprised.
With the district championship tournament looming next week, both teams looked forward to playing a quality team prior to the districts. The players know each other very well, having played travel ball together for years.
The game was played mostly at midfield as the teams battled for possession.
By the time the ball cleared midfield, the defensive players outnumbered the offensive players, and no one was able to get off a hard shot on the goal. Wright State commit Jessika Seward saved six shots in goal.
Raiders 5, Choctaw 0
The Raiders traveled to Choctaw Thursday and came away with a 5-0 shutout win.
The two teams had just played each other five days before when the Raiders shutout the Indians by a 3-0 score on senior night.
Jennifer Seward and Hailey Bastian used their speed to outrun the Choctaw defense down both sidelines and crossed the ball to the middle of the field.
