The Navarre Raiders traveled to Tate last Thursday for the first game of the girls soccer season. The Aggies have a good program and are one of the more talented team in Escambia County. On paper, the match looked like a good test for the young Raider team.
However, the Raiders looked as if they have been practicing together for months. Junior captain Jade Slaybaugh was a coach on the field, moving the defense into position.
The two teams fought it out at midfield until the six-minute mark. Jennifer Seward moved the ball down the left side of the field. Just as the Aggie defense stopped her progress, Seward passed to Autumn Slaybaugh, trailing on the play. Autumn looped a pass about 20 yards in front of the goal. Cami Acevedo went airborne and hit the ball thigh high past the Aggie keeper.
The Raiders had two more shots on goal at the 14th minute. Jennifer Seward outran the Aggie defense down the left side. The Aggie keeper came out to cut down the angle and made a nice stop on the play.
