Navarre’s boys track team is perhaps as deep as its ever been and that depth paid off Friday afternoon at the Andrews Invitational in Gulf Breeze.
The Raiders had at least one athlete place in the top five in 15 of the events and they parlayed that performance into their second invitational victory of the season.
Royce Thomas and Sam Bassham both won events as individuals, with Thomas taking first in the 100-meter dash (11.5) and Bassham winning the 110 hurdles (15.20).
The 400 relay team of Xavier Allen, Jones, Thomas and Dante Wright clocked in with a winning time of 43.76 while Allen and Wright joined Christian Brothers and Jaylen Shropshire teamed up to win the mile relay in a time of 3:33.44.
“We have a little bit of everything on our team,” Navarre head coach Joe Surratt said. “Our depth is good and we’re trying to build up that depth even more to have those guys ready to score points in the postseason.”
