The fans had cleared out. The players were on their way to the bus for the trip back to Navarre.
The power to the scoreboard had been cut off, too. It no longer showed a score that read Pensacola Catholic 49, Navarre 39.
In the middle of the gym, Raiders head coach Terry Posey talked about the fight his team showed against the Crusaders in a non-district showdown Friday night in Pensacola.
Posey was proud his team battled until the end just one night after suffering a four-point loss to Pace.
“Our guys were coming off a heartbreaking loss (Thursday) night, but we didn’t lay down,” Posey said. “I’m really proud of the way we tried to respond. It’s a positive thing. Even until the end, even though we lost by 10 points, the game was closer than that.
It could have been a long night for the Raiders. They came into this road game 0-2 and looking to deliver Posey his first win as the head coach at Navarre.
