The sun is out in full force on a Monday afternoon in June, a welcome sight in a month that has been filled with what seems like nonstop rain. Navarre’s baseball team is on the field playing just its third game of the summer, facing off against rival Gulf Breeze. The other four scheduled games were rained out.
“We haven’t played a lot this summer but we have gotten into the weight room,” Navarre baseball coach Jon Boddy said. “The guys are lifting hard and getting stronger and hopefully that work will translate to the field during the season.”
For now, it’s all about the summer, and in their game against Gulf Breeze, the Raiders struggle to get on track and fall 8-1. But it’s not the numbers on the scoreboard that matter.
“We treat the summer differently,” Boddy said. “We’re focused on working on the little things.”
