Navarre’s volleyball team traveled to Booker T. Washington last Tuesday to battle the Wildcats.
Head coach Ryan Davenport started ball handler, Samantha MacFarland, for her passing skills. Amber Morrow and Veronica Ruiz substituted for each other in the back digging hard hit Wildcat shots. Davenport used a different set of jumpers in each game. In the first game, the jumpers were Mary Beloat, Alex Rebber, Megan Haytack and Abbey Nebarez.
The Wildcats had a three-point lead before Rebber converted a MacFarland pass and hit a hard shot through a block, making the score 3-1. After three winning serves by Rebber, the score was tied at 4-4.
The Wildcats went on a streak to make the score 11-4. Ruiz served three straight points to give the Wildcats an 11-7 lead.
Trailing 17-12, the Raiders went to work. MacFarland set up Beloat with a pass that Beloat converted into a kill. Rebber aced two serves to bring the Raiders within one point at 20-19. Tessa Hendricks scored two service aces and Raiders had their first lead at 23-21.
