Lexi Kimes reached her hands out as the ball sailed above her.
The seconds of the final minute on the clock ticked away in a flag football showdown between Navarre and Pace Thursday night.
With the pressure mounting, Kimes knew she needed to deliver in a big moment.
She refused to think back to earlier in the game when the ball slipped out of her grasp a few times. To let those thoughts act as an added layer of defensive pressure would have been silly.
“I was like I can’t let it affect me. I finally got my head right, caught the ball and scored the touchdown,” Kimes said.
Her touchdown reception off a perfect strike from Whitley Smith proved to be the difference maker in the Raiders’ 18-14 victory.
Not only did the Raiders come from behind for the win, they handed the Patriots their first loss.
Kimes helped make it all possible. She went on to pick off a pass that ended any hope of a Pace rally in the final 30 seconds of play.
