The Navarre Raiders volleyball team has only played two matches and is quickly winning fans. Every game is close, and the players are leaving plenty of skin on the floor.
Navarre began the regular season play with a pair of tough losses against Milton and Fort Walton Beach. However, the Raiders did not make it easy on their opponent, taking both sets down to the wire.
The Panthers took an early lead in the first game on Aug. 21 at Milton. However, the Raiders tied up the game at 4-4 on a block at the net by Aubrey Walls, followed by a dink over the outstretched arms of the Panther front line.
The Panthers ran off three straight points for a 7-3 lead.
However, when the Raiders pulled to within a point of the Panthers, thanks to three service points by Walls, Milton called for a timeout to stop Navarre’s momentum.
The two teams traded points until the Raiders called for a timeout with the Panthers leading 18-14.
