Just call Matt Harshany Mr. 1000.
Navarre’s talented senior point guard reached the 1,000-point milestone in Tuesday’s 49-40 loss to Pensacola Catholic.
Needing only nine points, the senior guard hit the mark in the opening quarter on a reverse layup. He went on to finish with 20 points, scoring 10 of them in the first quarter.
“It’s pretty cool. It’s something that doesn’t happen very often” Harshany said. “I’m very blessed. I play with a bunch of great people and coach (Taf) Bentley has put me in a good position to score points.”
Harshany almost didn’t have to wait until this week to reach the milestone after scoring 38 in the season opener against Milton last Tuesday. He poured in 29 against Escambia two days later.
The transfer from Pace has scored more than 600 of his points in a Raiders uniform and it’s likely he’ll score 1,000 points just at Navarre before the season is done. This is his second season with the Raiders.
