Robert Mann came to South Alabama with a lot of promise as cross-country and distance runner.
And for most of his freshman season with the Jaguars, things went well for the former Navarre standout.
Mann competed at both the Sun Belt Conference and NCAA regional meets in cross-country in the fall of 2011 and was part of the distance medley relay team at the SBC indoor track meet.
His outdoor freshman season in track was cut short. The miles he ran added up and became too much to handle. He suffered a foot injury as a result of it.
“I had a big transition from high school because I didn’t run as many miles as I was running in college,” Mann said. “I broke my foot. I’m not sure when I did it, but I only ran a few outdoor meets before I had to sit out the rest of the season.”
