Dylan Main almost didn’t play football in college.
“I didn’t necessarily know if I was going to play. I was planning to just go to school and get my degree,” Main said. “But I got a call from the coach and felt drawn to play. I’m glad I did.”
Four years later Main is gearing up for his senior season with Birmingham Southern. The former Navarre Raider has improved every year and is optimistic about the Panthers’ chances of turning things around in a big way after a 3-7 campaign in 2017.
“Coach (Tony Joe) White has really turned the program around,” Main said. “We were pretty young last year and only went 3-7, but I think this year we have a good chance to make a run at the conference championship.”
Main is as confident as anyone on the team. The talented safety is also a leader, a role he embraces.
“Being an older guy, I’m looked to as a leader and I’m trying to take on that role,” Main said. “I want to do my best to show the young guys the ropes.”
